Review For Volkswagen Golf GTI 2.0-litre turbocharged FSI 3 door

Good Points
People think its fast. Good gas mileage 25-30mpg. Easy to work on Fun to drive.

Bad Points
The worst vehicle in the snow Timing belt and water pump 1 month into ownership. Very sloppy shifting in cold weather. Muffler fell off on ride home from dealership.

General Comments
I have run this car for nearly five months and 4000 miles so far as a company car, and for the first time, when I get into my everyday workhorse I have a wry smile to myself.

I'm lucky to drive a car that can out-accelerate most of the metal on the road today, but is still as at home dealing with everday London driving as it is blasting down the motorways and family life at the weekends.

The ride is ok. I chose the option of the 18-inch rims and at times I wish I hadn't, but then I get out of the car, look back and realise that I definitely made the right choice. They really set the car off.

Must admit I test drove the Focus ST beforehand and fell in love with the car, but, alas, the company decided to remove it from choice selection due to its high emissions, so the Golf was really my second choice. But what a second choice!!

It's an ideal car for those 30-somethings who now have a family and are recapturing their youth.

You can take the boy out of the boyracer but you can't take the boyracer out of the boy!!

PS - One of my colleagues has just had the DSG version delivered. I drove it and it's fantastic.
